The challenge
The school needed a digital presence that communicated its values clearly while remaining easy for non-technical staff to update. Generic templates would not capture Donhead's identity or support the variety of content types: news, programs, admissions, and community updates.
Rigid templates
Off-the-shelf themes could not reflect the school's tone or structure.
Editor burden
Staff needed flexible layouts without developer involvement for every update.
Mobile parents
Families browse on phones, so navigation and readability had to work on small screens.
How we approached it
- Content architecture. Mapped page types, entry structures, and reusable blocks in Craft CMS so editors can assemble pages from modular components.
- Responsive front-end. Built a clean, accessible layout with typography and spacing tuned for readability across desktop, tablet, and mobile.
- Performance pass. Optimized asset delivery and page weight so key pages load quickly on school networks and mobile data.
